Brian Franklin, a Galesburg High School and Monmouth College graduate, shared his story of starting out with the goal of wanting to get rich.
During a short career as a personal trainer, Brian started to dive into the world of coffee and decided to make it a career.
It wasn’t easy, he had to live out of his car, sleeping in tents and occasional nights on friends couches.
He thought about quitting all the time, but his family upbringing and experience playing football at a high level had instilled a never stop mentality.
Brian realized he was chasing the wrong goal of getting rich.
He changed his Mission to wanting to share amazing coffee with as many people as possible, provide amazing coffee experiences and to help small coffee producers in countries like Costa Rica and Colombia.
He realized that the work he was doing, connecting with the small coffee farmers, was making a huge difference to them, their families and their communities.
He loved seeing the impact he was having, not only at his coffee shop in Tulsa, OK. but especially in some impoverished areas around the globe.

Brian has also written a book called The Coffee Purist and he stars in a documentary called “The Perfect Cappuccino”, which shares his story and how he even took on Starbucks.
Thanks, Brian, for sharing your amazing journey with the CEOs!
