Had the pleasure of hearing from a 3rd Generation business owner/entrepreneur.
Dan Hawk of Hawk Heating & Cooling in Monmouth, IL shared the history of his Grandfather starting the original business, then passing to his Father, then Dan taking the reins.
Dan talked about the importance of how it’s not what you know, it’s who you know and make positive relationships with.
He also shared that if you can solve a need someone has, something they can’t do or don’t want to do, you can have a successful business by working hard and doing a good job.
Dan also shared that in a service business, you don’t want to “race to the bottom” meaning, you don’t want to provide the cheapest service/product.
Be better than your competition.
We also got to see the potential 4th Generation of this business with Dan’s oldest son, Dakota Hawk being present and working for Dan now.
Dakota was a 2024 CEO Program graduate and shared some quality advice with the current CEOs on his individual business and the class business process.
Thanks Dan and Dakota for “heating” up the CEOs with your story!
